SENT Ministries - What the missionaries have to say!

SENT Ministries gives you an opportunity to see a thirsting world. It has given me the opportunity to step outside of myself, step outside of my campus and go out into the trenches and do something about it, to show these teens that Christ loved them enough to go and fight for them and so do we - to fight for these teens and show them that their faith is worth fighting for. I also have loved the teams, friendships and the bonds that are formed throughout the semester. Getting to meet up with a group of people that are pushing you to be the best version of yourself, that are pushing you to be better everyday. This has been something that has been extremely valuable in my college experience.

First of all, sharing your faith with young people is such a gift to be a part of. I remember being in middle school and high school and college kids would come talk to be about their faith journeys and I was always super inspired by that, and looking back I can defiantly see how that planted seeds in my later growth in my spiritual life. SENT allows you to have the same opportunity as college students to younger kids. It helps you to deepen your own prayer life and your own community at Franciscan University. Finally, SENT gives you the opportunity to bring greater glory to the Kingdom of God. Something that I was taken aback by and humbled by was that when we are sent out and share our faith, it isn't about us but it is about what the Lord has done in our lives and what He can do in these kids lives. We're just servants who are seeking the will of the Father. I encourage anyone who hasn't thought about joining SENT to think about it and to pray about it because it is an amazing experience - you won't regret it.

The number one thing about SENT for me is the community that I have come to love and know through SENT Ministries, coming to meet a bunch of new people that I would have never met without SENT. The ministry is about having fun! I always looked forward to my SENT meetings because I knew that I was going to have fun. This ministry taught me how to love, that love is not just an emotion, it's not a choice but an act. When we go and minister to these kids our goal is to love them where they are at and not to leave them there - which I think is beautiful. Shoutout to SENT Ministries for doing the Lord's work!

One of the reasons I love SENT is the adventure. Every retreat, wether planning it or helping out in the smallest ways, you always have an adventure. There is always something to be had, there is always something new to be learned and there is inevitably something that goes wrong which you have to adapt and change your game plan. The Lord pours out many abundant blessings through this ministry, He is never outdone in generosity. Another thing I love about the ministry is that when you give of yourself, the Lord has the capacity to pour Himself more abundantly into you. Being a SENT Missionary is not something you will regret.
